No Need to be Surprised! Come for a Transparency Provisions Update (2010’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act AND Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021)
2010’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) contained certain provisions related to price transparency in healthcare; however, regulations for those provisions were not released until October of 2020. Separately, while much of the health and welfare plan compliance-related laws and regulations in 2020 and 2021 have been related to COVID-19 and pandemic concerns, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (CAA) also contained many provisions that focused not on COVID-19 or the pandemic, but on various aspects of transparency in pricing, coverage and claims under employer-sponsored group health plans.

Please join us for a discussion of the transparency provisions in the ACA and the CAA. Specific topics will include:

• Surprise billing rules
• ID card requirements
• Advance EOBs
• Mental health parity compliance documentation
• Pharmacy benefits and drug cost reporting
• And more!
